Fundamental rights ought to be protected in all aspects of the digital realm. Digitalisation, whilst changing our lives and our perspectives has created a vast amount of personal data and other data relative to our online behaviour. Are we aware of the real dynamics of the digital world? Is our privacy being altered? The EU has to commit to the highest standard of protection of its citizens’ digital rights relating to privacy, autonomy and access to service.
In this regard, MEP Agius Saliba has commissioned a study on citizens’ awareness of their digital rights, transparency in online services, the risks to their privacy and protection of personal data and hazards to their overall wellbeing, focusing mainly on Malta. This study was launched locally on the 17th of February at the Aula Magna, University of Malta, Valletta.
Carmel Cachia, Chief Administrator of the eSkills Malta Foundation was invited to participate in a discussion panel on the subject.
