CISCO Collaboration on Digital Skills

CISCO Collaboration on Digital Skills

The eSkills Malta Foundation and CISCO took the opportunity of consolidating the intention of both organisations to expand collaboration in the future on the area of Digital Skills. This was done during the event about ‘The Impact of IT Professionalism in the European Academy’ which was organised in Malta on the 14th June 2017. CISCO has a strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme running in all countries, and in the near future the Foundation would like to bring this programme more active in Malta. A Memorandum of Understanding was already signed last year, and through this the CISCO Networking Academy (INETCAD), offered free a course to potential students or individuals, who would like to learn more about the Internet of Things (IoT).

The cooperation was inaugurated in the presence of the Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation, the Hon. Mr Silvio Schembri, and Mr Andre Richier from the European Commissioner. CISCO will be planning more activities in Malta to help as part of their objective of increasing the digital skills, and the eSkills Malta Foundation will be very much involved in these. The Foundation has done similar initiatives with other industry players, since all these industry players play an important role in decreasing the digital skills gap. The transfer of universal knowledge about the current and emerging digital technology concepts is very important in the upskilling individuals in this digital age.
