Digigirlz Day events have been designed by Microsoft Global Diversity and Inclusion team to provide middle and secondary school girls with a better understanding of what a career in technology is all about.
On Tuesday 6th November eSkills Malta Foundation together with Microsoft Malta organized a Digigirlz event which proved to be an outstanding success. Over a 100 girls from St Clare College Pembroke, Russian Boarding School Malta, St Martins College, Mater Boni Cosiglii School, and St Monica attended the event.
During the event, the students were given the opportunity to interact with Microsoft and its partners to gain exposure to computer science and careers in business and technology. The aim of this exciting event was to provide hands-on exploration, positive encouragement, spark creativity and generate excitement.
The guest speaker of the event was Annalise Duca, Business System Analyst, Team Lead, Creative who gave the students a truly inspiring talk. Two workshops were held namely coding plugged with lego, a session which incorporated design, construction, engineering and coding. The second workshop was coding unplugged with Microsoft where the students had to create a human website. This fun and creative hands-on workshop helped the students understand how websites are designed and also learn about clickability.
All students were given a certificate of attendance.
