After a very successful campaign in 2015, eSkills for Jobs is gearing up for the 2016 European Competitions edition. The three categories for this year are:
Young digital talent
This category is open to young people aged between 16 – 25 years old who are interested in coding and video game development. The competition is open to young people from any EU member state. Good digital skills, creative ideas and the ability to implement them together with motivation and willingness to design a video game are required. To enter the competition you need to produce a video game using Scratch, including the eSkills for Jobs 2015 – 2016 campaign logo. The video game is then uploaded on your YouTube channel.
Nominations can be submitted by completing the submission form (including as well the link to your video and your email address). https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7N539JW (Submission form). The deadline for submission of entries is 31 July 2016.
Outstanding digital skills developer
This category is aimed at Teachers who enrolled in the 2nd round of the MOOC course Developing Digital Skills in your Classroom of European Schoolnet Academy. In order to submit the video, teachers have to have successfully completed the course.
A remarkable use of ICT for teaching together with the adoption of an innovative way of developing students digital skills are the prerequisites required for this category. Also required is a cross curricular approach to teaching digital skills
To enter the competition the production a 3min (max) video is required presenting a lesson or activity that focuses on developing the digital skills of students. The video which must also include the eSkills for Jobs 2015-2016 campaign logo, must be uploaded on your YouTube channel. Submissions are to be made through the MOOC course – Developing Digital Skills in your Classroom. Deadline for submission of videos is 31st July 2016.
Innovative App developer
This category is aimed at young people aged between 18 – 35 years old who are interested in coding and mobile app development. A basic understanding of coding , creative ideas and the implementation of same ideas together with entrepreneurial skills is required. Participants must also have a creative idea for a mobile app. The winners of this category get the chance to win a scholarship at The App Academy in Amsterdam. The scholarship entitles the winner to join the coding bootcamp in January 2017 which teaches how to build your own app in 12 weeks. Submission of app could be carried out through We transfer. Deadline for submissions is 31 July 2016.
