eSkills Malta Foundation participated to the 2022/2023 edition of Freshers’ week on the MCAST Main Campus, Paola. This event aims at providing a welcome to students on campus that include orientation visits, talks, demonstrations and more.
The Foundation participated by delivering a talk to students undergoing a degree programme that provided visibility on possible ICT career paths and roles available in industry. Various examples were provided with both traditional as well as in emerging digital industry, such as, eCommerce, robotics, DLT, AI and more. The exercise was fascinating, valued, and influential, judging by the attendance as well as by the interaction and inquiries. The eSkills Malta Foundation’s Careers in ICT lecture was delivered by Johann Mifsud.
Following the careers talk, the eSkills Malta Foundation awarded gift vouchers to three students as overall winners of a Cyber security-related Hackspace Challenge. MCAST Hackspace is a security-related “space” where students discuss and learn more about cyber security. Hackspace is co-sponsored by the Foundation. Earlier this year, MCAST HackSpace organised two online hacking competitions between January and March 2022 and the HackSpace Challenge in person during April 2022.
