This year eSkills Malta Foundation has secured another valid and important stakeholder to promote coding. The Foundation has collaborated with Data Science Malta and the Foundation for Educational Services (FES) to provide fun robotics sessions to 30 SkolaSajf Centres.
SkolaSajf provides children aged between 3 and 16 years with the opportunity to engage in a series of cultural, artistic and physical activities, and outings, during the summer months. This year SkolaSajf ran between 11th July till 7th September 2022. The Foundation was invited by Foundation for Educational Services (FES) to participate by providing Robotics sessions.
The Foundation understands that Robotics is a topic that eventually offers opportunities to introduce children to complex subjects like programming and engineering; but in a way that’s fun and interactive. Robotics are a fun introduction to programming and is an excellent skill to adopt for future career development. Robotics help the children with their problem-solving skills, it encourages their curiosity and creativity and prepares them for a technological future.
It was indeed a pleasure to watch the students having fun with the Dash Robot and Qobo. The enthusiasm and eagerness shown by the students from year 3, 4 5 and 6 from all the SkolaSajf Centres was truly amazing and rewarding. Robotics manages to combine programming with creativity and problem-solving, and at the end children will have an interactive little toy that they can play with.
It is the Foundation’s intention to continue participating in SkolaSajf. It is one of the Foundation’s major mandates to encourage and introduce children to coding in a fun and engaging way. By introducing children to robotics, programming, IT, and problem-solving skills, the Foundation is pleased to furnish them with a foundational skill set that could become extremely essential in the future.
