The Preamble Cybersecurity Skills Academy is an initiative of the European Commission, focusing on improving and strengthening cybersecurity skills in the EU. The College aims to integrate different activities under a common umbrella to increase their visibility, accessibility and impact, with a particular focus on SMEs, start-ups and the public sector.
Objective The Cybersecurity Skills Academy aims to address the growing shortage of cybersecurity experts in Europe, which has become an increasing concern for European citizens, businesses and public authorities. The College aims to create a larger pool of cybersecurity specialists to protect businesses and public services in Europe and shape future cybersecurity solutions.
Expected results The results include training resources addressing the most demanded skills in cybersecurity, such as cyber forensics and AI for cybersecurity. In addition, on-the-job training courses and traineeship opportunities will be offered, as well as online training that is user-friendly and available in all languages. A Key Performance Indicator Framework (KPIs) will also be established to monitor the progress and impact of the different actions considered within the scope of the College.
By bringing together relevant stakeholders from all Member States, the Cybersecurity Skills Academy aims to monitor the cybersecurity skills landscape, monitor its evolution and take measures to help Member States develop specialised training programmes to address the cybersecurity skills gap.
